A Little Seed (Action Rhyme)

A little seed for me to sow . . . (Pretend to hold a tiny seed.)
A little earth to make it grow . . . (Stoop down and touch the ground.)
A little hole, A little pat . . . (Pretend to dig a hole; plant seed; pat earth around seed.)
A little wish, And that is that. (Touch index fingers to head; bring arms down and fold over chest.)
A little sun, A little shower . . . (Make sun with hands; use fingers to create rain.)
A little while, And then --- a flower! (Pretend to sleep; cup hands around face like flower.)

Farmer, Farmer (Action Rhyme)

Farmer, farmer, dig and plant, (Pretend to dig and plant.)
Farmer, farmer, dig and plant,
Farmer, farmer, dig and plant,
Dig and plant the soil.

Mr. Sun, shine so bright, (Make circle with hands above head; shine down on ground.)
Mr. Sun, shine so bright,
Mr. Sun, shine so bright,
Shine and warm the soil.

Mrs. Raindrop, fall, fall, fall, (Raise hands up high; bring fingers down like raindrops.)
Mrs. Raindrop, fall, fall, fall,
Mrs. Raindrop, fall, fall, fall,
Fall and water the earth.

Tiny seed, grow, grow, grow, (Crouch down in a little ball; grow slightly on each "grow.")
Tiny seed, grow, grow, grow,
Tiny seed, grow, grow, grow,
Grow up big and tall. (Raise hands high and spread out arms, like towering plant.)

Lovely plant, bud and bloom, (Cup hands around face and slowly open them up, like a flower blooming.)
Lovely plant, bud and bloom,
Lovely plant, bud and bloom,
Bud and bloom for me.

The Farmer Plants the Seeds -
To the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell"

The farmer plants the seeds,
The farmer plants the seeds,
The farmer plants the seeds,
Hi, ho, the derry-oh,
The farmer plants the seeds.

The rain falls gently down,
The rain falls gently down,
The rain falls gently down,
Hi, ho, the derry-oh,
The rain falls gently down.

The sun shines so warm,
The sun shines so warm,
The sun shines so warm,
Hi, ho, the derry-oh,
The sun shines so warm.

The seeds begin to grow,
The seeds begin to grow,
The seeds begin to grow,
Hi, ho, the derry-oh,
The seeds begin to grow.

The plants blow in the breeze,
The plants blow in the breeze,
The plants blow in the breeze,
Hi, ho, the derry-oh,
The plants blow in the breeze.
I'm a Little Flower Bulb
To the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot"

I'm a little flower bulb, small and brown,
Buried in the cool, dark ground.
As the days grow warmer, watch and see,
I'll sprout through the earth -- Yippee!

Growing, growing, growing every day,
Sprouting leaves that gently sway,
Next comes a bud and then a flower --
A face to shine 'neath sun and showers.

It Is Spring Time
To the tune of "Are You Sleeping?"

It is spring time.
It is spring time.
Winter's gone!
Winter's gone!
Soon it will be summer.
Soon it will be summer.
It won't be long.
It won't be long.

Nine Little Flowers
To the tune of "Ten Little Indians"

One little, two little, three little flowers,
Four little, five little, six little flowers,
Seven little, eight little, nine little flowers,
Peeping through the ground.

Give them rain and lots of sunshine,
Give them rain and lots of sunshine,
Give them rain and lots of sunshine,
So they'll grow up tall.

As they grow, they'll bud and bloom,
As they grow, they'll bud and bloom,
As they grow, they'll bud and bloom,
In the lovely springtime.
Oh, When the Trees All Sprout New Leaves
To the tune of "Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In"

Oh, when the trees all sprout new leaves,
Oh, when the trees all sprout new leaves,
We know it must be springtime
When the trees all sprout new leaves.

Oh, when brown earth gives way to green,
Oh, when brown earth gives way to green,
We know it must be springtime
When brown earth gives way to green.

Oh, when the flowers begin to bloom,
Oh, when the flowers begin to bloom,
We know it must be springtime
When the flowers begin to bloom.

Out In The Garden
To the tune of "Down By the Station"

Out in the garden, early in the springtime,
See the farmer planting seeds in a row.
Soon with some help from the sun and rain
Lots of lovely plants will grow, grow, grow.

Plant A Garden
To the tune of "Oh My Darling Clementine"

Plant a garden, plant a garden,
Plant a garden in the spring.
Dig a hole and add some seeds.
Cover them up gently now, please.

They need lots and lots of sunshine,
A little wind, a little rain.
Soon those little seeds will sprout --
You'll see green leaves, have no doubt.

Day by day, they'll grow taller,
And their roots will deeper go.
Big strong plants will bud and bloom,
Yielding veggies to consume.

Rain -
Action Rhyme

Rain on the green grass, (Make rain motions with fingers, bringing fingers all the way to ground.)
Rain on the trees, (Make rain motions with fingers to shoulders, then sweep hands around to form treetop.)
Rain on the rooftop, (Make rain motions with fingers to top of head, then form triangle over head.)
But not on me! (Make large "x" with right index finger; point to self.)

Rain is Falling
To the tune of "Are You Sleeping?"

Rain is falling, rain is falling,
All around, all around,
Pitter, patter, raindrops,
Pitter, patter, raindrops,
Hit the ground.
Hit the ground.
Roots and Stem and Leaves and Flower
To the tune of "Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes"

Roots and stem and leaves and flower, leaves and flower,
Roots and stem and leaves and flower, leaves and flower,
Roots and stem and leaves and flower --
These are the parts of a plant.

Spring Is Here
To the tune of "Jingle Bells"

Spring is here! Spring is here!
Winter's gone away.
When the sun is shining bright,
Outside we run and play -- Yay!

Spring is here! Spring is here!
Let's all give a cheer.
Seeds sprout up, their roots go down,
And green leaves pierce the ground.

See the Brown Earth Turning Green -
To the tune of "London Bridge"

See the brown earth turning green,
Turning green, turning green.
See the brown earth turning green --
It is spring time!

Feel the weather getting warmer,
Getting warmer, getting warmer.
Feel the weather getting warmer --
It is spring time!

Watch the trees bud with new leaves,
With new leaves, with new leaves.
Watch the trees bud with new leaves --
It is spring time.

Spy the birds building their nests,
Building their nests, building their nests.
Spy the birds building their nests --
It is spring time!

Little Ducks - Sung to: "London Bridge"
Little ducks go quack, quack, quack
Quack, quack, quack,
Quack, quack, quack -
Little ducks go quack quack quack
In the springtime.

Spring Friends
Little white bunny in your hutch
I like you so very much.
With furry coat and ears that flop,
off you go- hop, hop, hop.
Little yellow duck with feathery back,
I can hear you,
Quack, quack, quack.
Swimming in the pond nearby,
off you fly up to the sky.
What a lovely time of year -
Sung to: "The Mulberry Bush"

What a lovely time of year,
Time of year, time of year.
What a lovely time of year
In our springtime garden.
See the flowers swing and sway,
Swing and sway, swing and sway.
See the flowers swing and sway
In our springtime garden

Relaxing Flowers
Five little flowers standing in the sun (hold up five fingers)
See their heads nodding, bowing one by one? (bend fingers several times)
Down, down, down comes the gentle rain (raise hands, wiggle fingers and lower
arms to simulate falling rain) And the five little flowers lift their heads up again! (hold up five fingers)

Umbrellas (Fingerplay)

Five umbrellas stood by the back door,
The red one went outside, then there were four.
Four umbrellas pretty as can be,
The blue one went outside, then there were three.
Three umbrellas with nothing to do,
The green one went outside, then there was one.
Just one umbrella alone in the hall,
The purple one went outside, and that was all!
Worms Help Us -
Sung To: "Mary Had a Little Lamb"

The worms are mixing up the soil,
Up the soil, up the soil.
The worms are mixing up the soil
So we can plant our seeds.

The soil is loose and all mixed up,
All mixed up, all mixed up.
The soil is loose and all mixed up,
The seeds are growing well.
What the Robin Told
The wind
told the grasses,
And the grasses
told the trees.
The trees
told the bushes,
And the bushes
told the bees.
The bees
told the robin,
And the robin
sang out clear:
Wake up!
Wake up!
Spring is here!
