Spring Has Sprung

Hello one & all!

I can't believe it's been over a month since my last blog post! Life has been bedlam between moving into our new house and working on some very exciting projects (stay tuned!), I've barely had time to breathe let alone blog. Also, I had the pleasure of working with the most incredible student teacher for the past few weeks, I was so sad to see her go! Such an enthusiastic, dedicated girl with the most wonderful and fresh ideas. My Juniors adored her.

Lots of messages coming in about Spring and various topics the past few days so I'll hopefully touch on everything over the next week. But in the meantime, here's a little glance at some of the things we've been up to.

Art - Spring Chicks

Everyone painted their own little chick on blue card and then the beaks and eggs were a scissors skills exercise. So cute! Images are from Twinkl.

These are two cute little rhymes we've been learning as part of our Chick theme too.

So as you can see Twinkl was very handy this month - more printable visuals. We've been using these for Spring writing inspiration too.

Don't you love when the little ones take that leap into spelling and forming their own sentences. #heartflutters

Spring Playdough Activities

Spring Maths

Counting skills - you can really challenge the little ones with a simple skill like counting if you use a variety of similar looking items, like flowers! They really have to concentrate.

Pattern making, getting the scissor skills exercised too!

This pattern exercise can be found on Twinkl.

Pretty Pop Art

If you've been following the blog for a while you might have seen this last year. I couldn't not do it again this year. The children really enjoyed the process of it and it looks great when you put all their little pieces together.

Call in for a Coffee

Now, I'll have a specific blog post this week on our new role play area, Juniors Coffee Shop but I just had to share this great online resource for editing logos. We're starting our new coffee shop this week and being able to edit the Costa logo was a great treat. Bringing a bit of environmental print into the room...with a twist.

Plenty more content coming this week, stay tuned.

Have a great week.

PS... If you're on Instagram be sure to follow me over there, it's usually different content to my FB page - littlemissteacherblog is my handle!

  1. It is just what I was looking for and quite thorough as well. Thanks for posting this, I saw a couple other similar posts but yours was the best so far. The ideas are strongly pointed out and clearly emphasized.
